Short Biography: Chris has been involved in church leadership for many years with his preaching ministry starting when he was 18. He has planted two growing churches and pastored two churches. In recent years Chris has been an Elder in a growing Baptist Church. Chris in his role as Executive Manager with Travelink has visited Israel on nearly 60 occasions and has wide knowledge of the country and its people.

 

Day 1. Israel, here we come! Fly to Israel’s Ben Gurion airport and transfer to the Caesar Premier Hotel, Jerusalem.

 

Day 2. Bethlehem & The Old City of Jerusalem. Start the tour in Bethlehem, where we shall visit the Church of the Nativity, The Shepherds Fields before an opportunity to meet some local Christian Arabs.  The afternoon starts with a spectacular view of the Old City from the top of the Mount of Olives, walk down the old path to Dominus Flevit (The Tear Drop Church) before completing the decent at the Garden of Gethsemane. A short walk to St Stephen’s Gate and a walk along the Via Dolorosa (The Way of Sorrows) ending with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

 

Day 3. Mount Zion – The City on a Hill. Start the day at Mount Zion and a visit to the Upper Room, a short walk brings us to St Peter in Galicantu (built over the dungeons thought to have been used to hold Jesus). Continue the short walk down the hill to the Western Wall. Visit the Cardo and a walk through the Suk to the Damascus Gate. The afternoon will see us visit Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist and the Garden Tomb (Also known as Gordon’s Calvary) where for those wishing to partake there will also be an opportunity for communion.

 

Day 4. The Dead Sea and Masada. Travel east and descend to the lowest point on Earth at over 1300 feet below sea level. We shall pass Bedouin encampments and have a distant view of Jericho. An opportunity for a photo shoot on the “Zero Camel” before the first stop at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Travel south along the shore of the Dead Sea passing through En Gedi where David spared King Saul’s life, to Masada which you will ascend via the cable car to hear its extraordinary story of courage and defiance against the might of Rome. Relax at Dead Sea Spa with an opportunity to swim in the Dead Sea, take a natural hot sulphur bath and a mud bath before returning to our hotel.

 

Day 5. Farewell to Jerusalem and welcome to Galilee. A visit to Yad Vashem (The Holocaust Memorial) and the Shrine of the Book where we will also see Model of the City completes our time in Jerusalem. Travel north along the Jordan Valley route to Galilee. A stop at Beit She’an where Saul’s head was displayed and Yardinet the baptismal site on the River Jordan and our first view of the Sea of Galilee. The day is completed with a Boat Trip on the Sea of Galilee as we cross from Ein Gev on the eastern shore of the lake to Tiberias. Check in to the Prima Hotel, Tiberias for our overnight.

 

Day 6. Nazareth, Mount Carmel & the North. Drive to Nazareth passing through Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle. A visit to the Nazareth Village - The Nazareth Jesus Knew before visit the Basilica of the Annunciation associated closely with Mary’s visitation by the angel. Continue our journey to Mount Carmel and the site associated with the prophet Elijah and his battle with the prophets of Ba’al where you will also have an amazing view of the whole region. Continue north Banias (Caesarea Philippi) sure one of the most beautiful regions of Israel and at the foot of Mount Hermon. Return via the Golan Heights to our hotel by the Sea of Galilee.

 

Day 7. On the Shore of Galilee. Start the day at the Mount of Beatitudes before walking through the fields to Capernaum the village where Jesus lived, before vary short drives to Tabgha (feeding of the 5000 site), Mensa Christi (On the shore and where Jesus appeared to his disciples after his death) and Bethesda. A visit to Safed – the capitol of the Galilee during the time of Jesus completes our day.

 

Day 8. The Mediterranean Coast and farewell to Israel. Drive west to Meggido (Armageddon) one of the most import sites in Israel. Following this we visit Caesarea where Pontius Pilate had his home and where Cornelius was converted and became the first Gentile believer. Time for rest and relaxation on the beach before transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your return flight home.
